Tomorrow

It will all happen again.
Without regard.
Ongoing.
Relentless.
Cyclical.
You can’t fight it.
A relief.

30 Days of Poetry - Day 15

April 16, 2014.

Brief glimpses
during vulnerable moments
when asleep
waiting
embarrassed.
Sublimely ordinary
driving silently
walking together
folding laundry.
Fleeting moments
joyous, tearful laughter
songs
mourning.
Entirely beautiful.

Awkward AF

With each lazy blink I grow more aware.
Oh I was asleep.
Hmn it’s the last stop.
It seems like the whole subway car is empty..
Wait, what…
I see something in my peripheral vision.
That jacket looks familiar.
Oh that hair, that stare, that guy.
Sitting rigid, at attention, bug eyed and silent.
What is my life?
Creepy defined.
The 3 tones chime.
The doors open.
Run like hell.
Never look back.

April 10, 2014.

Eyes water.
A long drawn out yawn becomes a resigned sigh.
Strained voice becomes a hoarse whisper.
Sore throat.
Heavy, tired, spent.
Bloom, wilt, wither.
The end is a beginning.
Forever and again and always for us all.

The Embassy of Cambodia
By Zadie Smith
9780241146521

The Embassy of Cambodia was a short story by Zadie Smith in the New Yorker (Feb. 2013) and now Hamish Hamilton has published a wonderful pocket hard cover edition, which I recently received as a gift.
This story is beautifully crafted and is one that begs to be read and reread. Smith’s short work of fiction is a vivid portrait of humanity and society that will certainly provoke questions regarding complicity, suffering and relationships for the reader.

Breakfast w/foxinwolfsclothing @ EggsCrepes
Spinach and cheddar crepe for me and 3 eggs over easy, bacon, toast and homefries for the gentleman.
Why does the east end have all of the good (& inexpensive) breakfast places? At EggsCrepes they give you the coffee in an insulated carafe. Yes.

That moment in the middle of the night, when you wake up because you feel too warm, then you turn your pillow over and you’re like…

Ahhhhhhh sweet, soothing, cool relief.
